This network switch has 7 Fast Ethernet RJ-45 ports and 1 100FX fiber port with SC connector.
The embedded media converter allows the switch to build up a long-distance multimode fiber link at 2
km, that is to say 20 times the distance over twisted pair.
The switch is equipped with a micro switch, which activates the manual VLAN mode. This mode allows to isolate each RJ-45 port from the other ports, and to concentrate the data flows to the optical port only.
This mode increases the steadiness of the link, and reduces latency and perturbations that may occur
when the communication is not isolated.
You will save some money with this 2-in-1 device, since it combines a switch and a media converter.
